Plate defines the efficiency of heat exchanger, while shell defines the design temperature and pressure.The medium pass through the portholes and into the gap between the plates.The heat transfer takes place when the warmer product transfers energy through the flow plates and delivers it to the colder opposing medium without mixing the both products.The Openable plate andshell offers increased flexibility of use by allowing the fully welded plate pack to be completely withdrawn from the shell for inspection or cleaning. This is achieved by the use of a flanged and bolted shell construction.
